Why the same engine can have different outputs
Many engines are sold in more than one tune. A 2.0 diesel might be offered at different power levels depending on trim and year. The badge on the boot often does not tell you which one you have, which is why matching from the reg helps.
BHP, PS and kW explained
PS is the metric horsepower figure many manufacturers quote. BHP is slightly lower for the same engine, roughly 1 PS to 0.986 bhp. kW is the official SI unit. We show the figures in the units available for your vehicle.
What torque tells you
Torque is the pulling force, usually in Nm or lb ft. High torque at low revs feels strong when pulling away or towing. Power figures are better for judging top end speed.
What our figures are based on
Figures are the manufacturer quoted outputs for the derivative we match. They do not reflect remaps, wear or aftermarket parts.
Questions
Is the bhp figure measured on my car?
